Ethereum is about to exceed the decisive course. With the EIP-7928, a courageous proposal was presented to introduce parallel transactions in Layer 1. Long considered to be an almost unsurpassed challenge due to the risks of the system’s consistency, this progress could in depth of network architecture. In response to the persistent scalability limits, this new technical milestone revives debates between developers and represents a potential turnover point for Ethereum development to increase efficiency without compromise on safety.

Ethereum cryptocurrency personified as a technological superhero levitating above the launch pad.

In short

  • The new update design, the EIP-7928 could transform the scalability of Ethereum into layer 1.
  • The aim of this proposal is to allow parallel transactions and faster block verification.
  • The EIP-7928 starts the debate between Development in Layer 1 and the addictions on the layer 2.
  • If accepted, the EIP-7928 could move Ethereum L1 as a key actor in scalability, not only as a layer of settlement.

Technical Progress to Accelerate Block Verification

The Ethereum development team introduced the EIP-7928, a proposal that introduces a temporary capacity of the code for external accounts. The heart of the EIP-7928 design is actually based on the introduction of access lists at the block level (balls).

Toni Wahrstätter, one of the authors of the documentary, confirms May 14 on the Social Network X (Ex Twitter):

It is a mechanism aimed at enabling transactions and parallel validation of blocks.

Such a technical innovation is based on the key principle: providing validators in advance to all necessary information about the block transaction so that they can analyze it without having to make it one by one.

Specifically, the balls identify all addresses and storage sites corresponding to block transactions and related values after design. The system would enable the abbreviation of the current sequential reading, considered ineffective due to the increase in the network.

Thus, the EIP-7928 represents three main technical components directly integrated into the body of the blocks, which would allow the Ethereum to take a new step in its performance in layer 1:

  • List of block approaches (BAL): complete list of storage addresses and keys linked to transactions;
  • Indices of transactions: allow you to find every operation in a block with accuracy;
  • Values after design: These are the final results that each transaction leaves the total status of the network.

According to Wahrstätter, this structuring would allow validators to perform disk parallel values and verify blocks much faster than before. Adds that this progress could also “Allow to increase the gas limit” in the future.

Therefore, the interest of this proposal lies in a significant improvement in the network efficiency without changing its basic principles or depending on the solution of the second layer.

Milestone in the debate between the scalability of L1 and addiction to L2

In addition to the purely technical aspects of the EIP-7928, it reacts the old debate in the Ethereum community: should we concentrate the efforts of scalability on layer 1 or continue on Layer 2?

This type of proposal strengthens the idea “This is also necessary to focus on L1 improvement”While some community members focus solely on Rollups’ solutions to meet overload and expenses.

The implementation of balls does not try to replace L2, but rather to move L1 as a more robust, faster and more competitive base.

With this in mind, the Ethereum Plan is organized with consistency. After activating the Pectra update, which, in particular, introduced an account abstraction and a new design for Stoking ETH, will head the net to Fusaka, expected at the end of 2025.

This further development is determined by the introduction of Peerdas, the technology of sampling from data in out -Mehain, designed to reduce the cost of layer 2. It seems that Ethereum follows the dual strategy: to strengthen its base in supporting its extension.
